It is back-to-school season and while you have your school supplies and a new wardrobe ready to go have you thought about putting your best face forward? School can be a stressful time with a new schedule, a new school, making new friends and that can all take a toll on your skin. Don’t let school kill your complexion.
As you get into the school routine, make sure you adopt a skin care routine as well. Today’s lesson is how to have great skin this semester.
Here is a back-to-school list for your skin:
Number 1: Clean it with a Cleanser
Make sure you wash your face in the morning and at night. Your face collects dirt, oil and other impurities. When looking at a cleanser make sure you keep in mind what skin type of you have and any skin concerns. There are many options, so you can experiment with a few until you find the right one.
Number 2: Master a Moisturizer
After cleaning your skin, add moisture back by applying a moisturizer. Moisturizing daily helps hydrate your skin and helps it feel soft and supple. Having a healthy glow will put you at the head of the class.
Number 3: Hitting the track? Running on the soccer field? Slap on the sunscreen.
The sun never takes a break and regardless the time of year, you need to apply sunscreen with a SPF of 30 or higher. And make sure you reapply every two hours especially if you are working out and sweating. And after your workout always shower. The sweat and dirt witting on your skin can clog pores and lead to “bacne.” And PS- you will smell sweeter when you see that cheerleader in the hall.
Number 4: Keep it clean.
From bed linens to cell phones and makeup brushes, everything that touches your face has germs. Hair oils may collect on your pillow case so make sure you wash them weekly and while you are at it throw in your sheets as well. Oh, and that cell phone? That too has makeup and oils on it which can cause face flare-ups so make sure you clean it with antibacterial phone wipes. Lastly, makeup brushes—another culprit. While you put on makeup to enhance your look, a dirt makeup brush can do the opposite to your complexion. Make sure you wash them weekly.
Number 5: Get your beauty rest.
It is true, pulling all-nighters not only wreaks havoc on your brain and how you function but also negatively impacts your skin. When you achieve 7 or more hours of sleep a night it helps keep your oil levels in check—your skin will thank you for it.
So, let’s start off this school year with an A+ in skincare. By following these easy tips, you can help prevent the back-to-school breakouts.
